Affection Is Altruism
A girl was walking along a country road with her grandfather. They came upon a garden fence that was covered with beautiful roses. Taking a deep breath, the girl said, “grandpa, do you get the smell of these roses? Aren’t they nice?” Then they heard the voice of an elderly lady who was sitting on the veranda of her house. “Take all you want,” the voice said.
So they took a rose each and thanked the lady and praised her for her beautiful flowers.
Then the lady explained, “I grow those rose purposely to make other people happy. I can’t see them, I’m blind.”

People Make Home
A family had difficulty finding a house to rent in a new city. They were living in a hotel until they could find a permanent residence.
In the lobby of the hotel one day, another guest said to the little girl of the family, “It’s too bad you haven’t a home.”
The alert child answered, “Oh, we do have a home. All we need is a house to put it in.”
A house is built by bricks and beams; a home is built by love and dreams.
