During a traffic-safety drive in a city, a policeman stopped a driver who had been exceeding the speed limit. “Going quite fast, weren’t you?” he asked.
“Yes, I suppose,” replied the driver. Then, so as to avoid the fine, he added, “I am the chief of traffic-department, off duty at the moment.”
The policeman, who had began to write a ticket, looked at the identity card of the chief, and continued to fill the form.
“Look here, you young man,” said the chief with some irritation, “someday you may come as my subordinate.”
With a smile the policeman handed the officer the ticket. “Well, Sir, when I get there, remember that you have an honest man working with you.”

Ingratitude
There is a story of a grandmother who was walking with her young grandson along a seashore. All of a sudden a huge wave appeared and swept away the child out to the sea. The horrified woman fell to her knees, raised her eyes to heaven, and begged God to return her beloved grandson. And lo, another wave reared up and deposited the stunned child on the sand right in front of her.
The grandmother looked the boy over carefully. He was fine. But then she stared up towards the heavens, and said angrily, “When we came, he had a hat.”
