Three Qualities I have three precious things which I hold fast and prize.

The first is gentleness; the second is frugality, the third is humility, which keeps me from putting myself before others.

Be gentle and you can be bold;

Be frugal and you can be liberal;

Avoid putting yourself before others and you can become a leader among men.
— Lao Tzu

Don’t Belittle Life Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should ignore and forget. Perhaps someone we helped has proven ungrateful, someone we believed to be a friend has spoken ill of us, some regard we thought we deserved has been denied us.

We feel such disappointments so strongly that we can no longer work or sleep. But isn’t that absurd?
Here we are on this earth, with only a few decades to live, and we lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that in a year’s time will be forgotten by everybody and us.

Now, let us devote our life to worthwhile actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring understandings. For life is too short to be little.
Andre Maurois
