Where is the peace-loving world
Dreamt by Mahatma Gandhi?
Shells and bombs shatter our hopes
With looming war, no peace.
Shedding sweat and tears and blood
     To no avail, soldiers fight.
     Strife and sorrow everywhere
     Darkness surrounds, where’s true light?
‘Handsome is that handsome does’
But who cares? Selfish all are
Turning this earth beautiful
A vast graveyard! All they mar.
     We do need more Mahatmas
     Mandelas, Teresas, Kings
Let them lead and guide the world
     Arrives serene life on wings!
Youth of the earth, ‘dream a dream’
So inspires Kalam, the great.
Fear of war, we shall overcome
Joy and peace will rule, ere late.
